Raag raamkalee, mehlaa 5,
Bani Guru Arjun Dev:
In the following 2 lines, Guru Sahiban states the human nature and weaknesses:
a)Maatee kaa ki-aa Dhopai su-aamee maanas kee gat ayhee.
How can dust be washed? O my Lord and Master, such is the state of mankind
b)Man tan thaap kee-aa sabh apnaa ayho aavan jaanaa.
He believes the mind and body are all his own; this is the cause of his coming and going.
First He says:
we are created from the 5 perishable elements, so naturally we are surely going to die and leave this earthly plane one day. Whatever we do, we shall never become pure. The purity is of the soul, of the mind not of the body. No amount of bathing in so called sacred waters, fastings, eating, drinking , dressing, etc is going to purify us. That is why in Jap Ji Sahib, Guru Nanak says: Sochay socha na hovaee, jeh sochay lakh vaar. Socahy is not only related to thinking, but to bathing also ... so Gur Dev says, not even a hundred thousand times bathing, is not going to clean your inner dirt. Dirt attracts dirt, our dirty body has natural tendency in doing and creating "karmas" ....and karmas we all know is a weapon of Kal to keep souls entangled and imprisoned in the Bhavsagar.
Then He says:
we manmukhs and agyanis believe and give a lot of importance to the land we are born in ... the panth we follow, the social & political status, the educated degree, and a big etc .... this in other words is "haume" ... me, mine, my land, my country, my people, my house, my this , my that ...
Bani says: sabh jag chalan haar, kis naal keejay dostee? If everything is "fanah", is "koor", is maya ... then why so much pride? ...or pride what for? Why to give up lives or take lives, for that purpose. We are fooled by the saying: give up your life for your desh, for your land, for your so called country fellows or your same region ... we want to create a separate country for ourselves...to the extent that we promote violence, brain wash the people, and make them ready to die or kill, and then not only tell them lies, but make these poor fellows believe it; like, oh! you are a hero, do not worry, you shall go direct to Wahiguru .... and bla bla bla
Shame on all of them ..... Wahiguru will not accept or tolerate any of these nonsenses. Rather Dharam Rai, will give us a good whipping, by wasting the precious gift of human birth given to us by Wahiguru, in becoming pure and becoming one with Him.
And this does not mean, if we are attacked, we should not defend ourselves. But we should not confuse ourselves, between self defense and trying to make this land for myself or my fellow people, just because we talk the same language, or dress alike. This is what Guru Arjun Dev warns us: by this way of wanting to make something which was never ours, and shall never be; we shall ensure our present and future in the wheel of eighty four, "chaurasee ka chakar", the wheel of births and deaths.
Great kings , emperors, dictators, came and went away empty ... so who are we ? Even Ravan, who was so powerful, died like miser dog.... And we silly moorakhs still do not learn ... we go on commiting the same mistakes.... This is what Guru Sahiban wants to tell us that, we do not learn, and go on commiting mistakes upon mistakes ....just because we do not lean on the only one truth, which is Nam, which is Shabad.... Bin Naavai, nahee kou thao. Without Nam, there is no shelter ... shelter of peace, shelter of love ...shelter of knowledge... and this shall be only obtained by taking refuge at His holy feet, of a Gurmukh.
Rather we are here to collect the only "dhan" or the riches of the treasure Nam Simran. That is all. And this treasure, shall accompany us, not only here but hereafter in the next world, it is the visa(Gurprasad) issued by His embassador here(HIs Gurmukhs), (in the embassy of Sadh Kee Sangat) for the entrance in Sach Khand. This treasure, shall not be robed, drowned, nor burnt, it is the bakshish of Wahiguru.
In the Bani, it is very clearly stated: it is better for a woman to not to give birth to a child, who after birth does not engage himself in the bhakti of Wahiguru, with the Gurprasad of Nam.
It goes to the extent by saying: without Nam, we are like decorating our dead bodies, we are like dogs putting our mouths in dustbins or trash ...so then, so much pride...what for?
Let us not allow the agayni (ignorant) and andha(blind) evil ones, to manipulate and keep us away from our birth right of becoming one with Wahiguru, through Nam bhakti.
Wah wah Sache Badshah.
